I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga in London for over five years and have worked my way around much of the city trying out the many wonderful centres and yoga teachers on offer. I always kept a little list of recommendations at hand but after assisting at the wonderful Kundalini Yoga retreat space, Soul Adventures in Ibiza and being asked by so many guests for guidance in continuing their practice, I thought it best to create this blog.
Luckily Kundlini Yoga in London is growing and below you’ll find the best – in my opinion! – centres and teachers to get that big smoke Kundalini high from.
HighTimes Yoga – Covent Garden
Jayne is a wonderful teachers and offer incredibly powerful mid-week classes in the cosy attic of Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden every Wednesday. Booking is always advised online as she does have a regular following and can become full pretty quickly. She also hosts classes in Beckingham and occasional workshops.
triyoga – Classes across London
Now with six centres across the city, triyoga is a yoga forced to be reckoned with whatever your mind and body stretching preference. For Kundalini yoga just select from the drop down and you’ll find a huge selection to choose from. My stand out is Carolyn Cowan, a Kundalini force to be reckoned with herself and a teacher worth following for the workshops and classes she hosts across the city. Kwali Kumara is awesome too, her Sunday afternoon classes in Camden are something quite special. Finally Ashley Jones who’s classes I attended regularly at another centre is now leading classes at triyoga and is a wonderful teacher.
Kundalini Yoga Collective – Green Lanes and Kings Cross
This is a beautiful collective of Kundalini yoga teachers who tend to rotate leading the classes they run throughout the week. I regularly attended Sunday classes at Greenhouse which really were such a wonderful way to begin the day, there’s no better feeling than being fresh on s Sunday! They also offer gong workshops and a Peru Nadi gathering that have always caught my eye. There are several classes in different locations across the week, which they post in their meetup page calendar.
Joy Yoga – Dalston
I have always loved their offerings but unfortunately have never managed to make a class. Since I have left London they have moved to a dedicated Kundalini yoga space in London, in Dalston and have some wonderful classes and workshops on offer all week long. Next time I am back in London I will definitely be making time to take a class or two.
SEN Wellness, Wimpole Street
I haven’t actually attended this class, however I mention it as I worked at their retreat centre in Sri Lanka and know the owner and lead osteopath Sam Kankanamge. I’m really aware of the wonderful energy behind all that he offers and I know the teachers he works with would be a continuation of that. Also a proportion of the class fee goes towards supporting a local Sri Lankan charity, so your winning some lovely yoga karma points right there.
Here are a few other centres I would recommend, they run a huge variety classes and workshops along with some great Kundalini classes I have really enjoyed.
Yoke Dalston – Lots of lovely gong!
The Refinery – Loads of great classes on offer, including Kundalini.
The Psychedelic Society – They run some really cool events including gong, breathwork and women’s circles.
