It’s a long, hot summer in Ibiza and with over six months of sunshine to choose from, it can be hard to know which one is right for you. Here’s a guide to each one’s offerings and how you can make the most of your time on the island.
Ibiza in April
April is now the official start of the season and the filling timetable of direct flights brings with it the crowds of sun hungry Ibiza lovers as the season starts to take shape. Families make the most of the early sunshine and cheaper hotels and the clubbers descend to take in the opening fiestas. Ushuaïa and Amnesia have already grabbed the final weekend to dust off the dancefloors, along with the The International Music Summit returning April 24th-26th. Held this year at the Mondrian Ibiza, it brings three days of music and industry discussion before the grande finale at the spectacular Dalt Vila.
April in Ibiza recommendations:
Keep your eyes on the restaurant openings in April. Often coming with DJ and live music, they are great ways to party without going all out.
Ibiza weather in April:
The days can be surprisingly warm but don’t forget the extra layer for the evenings.
Ibiza in May
Clubs will continue to open their doors throughout the month of May, as the calendars start to fill throughout the week. The openings are of course, always rammed packed but in general its an easy vibe across the music scene once the initial parties take place. There’s something a little magical about the month of May as Ibiza starts to fully embrace the season ahead.
May in Ibiza recommendations:
Kicking off the second week in May (10-12th) is the Medieval Festival. Here Ibiza Town is transformed back in time to the middle ages and the streets are lined with food, fair and alot of medieval fun.
Ibiza weather in May:
Cool and fresh in the evenings but during the days with temperatures sliding into the 20’s, you’ll definitely need your sunscreen.
Ibiza in June
June in Ibiza brings the perfect balance. Hotter days and warmer nights means more holiday makers begin flocking to the island As the kids are still in school however, there are still some great hotel bargains to be had across the island. The month heats up with every party night now open and a long list of dancefloor options to decide from.
June in Ibiza recommendations:
Now’s the time to make the most of the quieter beaches. Why not take a boat from the San Antonio port across to Cala Tarida or Cala Bassa. Less crowds mean more white sands to yourself and in most spots at this time of year the water will still be beautifully crystal clear.
Ibiza weather in June:
A light jacket in the evening will help take the edge off as you take in the famous Ibiza sunset but fear not, during the days you’ll find the temperature gauge taking steps towards those roasting 30’s.
Why not add a little magic to your trip and join me for a beach yoga class or Es Vedra yoga experience…find out more here
Ibiza in July
You’ve arrived, we’ve arrived, the next two months of madness have finally arrived. As the kids say their farewells to school, families and club hungry crowds step off the plane and straight into the Ibiza lifestyle. The Ibiza party calendar will look like the ultimate pick and mix bag where you get to try something new day and night, from beach club to night club and pool parties where a unicorn lilo is the ultimate accessory.
In July there’s a vibe across the island that lets us all know that the real fun has only just begun.
July in Ibiza recommendations:
If the most you’ve explored of the big blue sea is taking a quick dip to recover from the blazing heat, then we recommend setting some time aside to explore it in more depth. Afternoon cruises to secret coves and sunset swims, where you’ll watch the sun taking its final bow whilst bobbing upon the water, make for magical days you’ll never forget.
Ibiza weather in July:
HOT, HOT, HOT days lead to sweaty nights as the temperatures soar well into the 30’s. Don’t forget your fan.
Ibiza in August
After a month of July madness we move into the second round where the island reaches its peak numbers. There is an electric atmosphere to Ibiza at this time, as the non stop nights bring the never ending fun. Be prepared for full clubs and long queues as the parties reach their penultimate numbers. However, with the big crowds come big rewards and this is when you’re likely to meet your new best friends and create memories you’ll cherish forever.
Ibiza in August recommendations:
The ultimate gig opens this month as the BBC Radio 1 weekender rolls back into town. On August 2nd – 4th, 528 Ibiza (Zoo Project to Ibiza veterans) will once again be the venue for this summer highlight. Last year it had the festival feels, as artists took the stage back-to-back and the sun shone down. One not to be missed.
Ibiza weather in August:
It’s still a roaster! With temperatures well in the 30’s we reckon the only thing you’ll need to pack are your swim shorts or bikinis.
Ibiza in September
September is a month of two halfs. The beginning brings more of a chilled vibe as the heat begins to release its grip and you’ll find a little more space on the roads, in the clubs and on the beaches. As we move to the end of the month and the first of the individual closing parties start taking place, you’ll see the dance crazy crowds filling the island once more to get their final hit.
Ibiza in September recommendations:
We all know what the clubs have on offer, but why not get out and explore some of the other dancing options across the island? One of our favourites is the beautiful Benirras beach, where at sunset the drummers come together to lead the hot ball in the sky down towards the sea. Although not officially on a Sunday anymore, the musicians find it hard to stay away for any sunset throughout the week. Only really accessible with a car but definitely worth the drive.
Ibiza weather in September:
The temperatures generally start dropping from the sticky 30’s into the slightly more manageable 20’s, and you can finally stop wiping your upper lip every 4 seconds.
Ibiza in October
A little like September but in reverse, we begin the month with the final flurry of goodbyes as the nights and clubs shut their doors for the last time this season. However, come at this time and stay a few days after the closing parties and you can enjoy deserted beaches, no queues at the bar and prime seats in the restaurants, all yours for the taking.
Ibiza in October recommendations:
If you are yet to see Es Vedra then now is the time. No ordinary rock, it’s said to emanate a magnetic and rather magical energy, one you have to thank for the special sparkle Ibiza brings to your life each and every year. Don’t forget, with my Es Vedra Yoga Experience, you get a double hit of magic as you enjoy a beautiful yoga class with the splendid site of Es Vedra before you. Find out more here.
Ibiza weather in October:
Cool, calm and collected, the weather in October is the ideal temperature. With day temperatures generally back in the 20’s and a cooler feel to the air you can finally get a good night’s sleep without a fan whizzing away in the background.
